Anganwadis / Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS)
The Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Scheme was launched on October 2, 1975, with the objective of ensuring the holistic development and health protection of children. In Mathilakam Grama Panchayat, 28 Anganwadis function as the basic service delivery units of the ICDS programme.
Objectives
- To improve the nutritional and health status of children from birth to six years of age.
- To lay the foundation for the proper psychological, physical and social development of children.
- To reduce the incidence of child mortality, morbidity and malnutrition.
- To effectively coordinate policies and programmes implemented by various departments for the overall development of children.
- To provide parents with appropriate health and nutrition education, enabling them to meet the nutritional and health needs of their children.

| Children Aged 6 Months to 3 Years | Supplementary nutrition, Amrutham Nutrimix, timely immunization, growth monitoring, early stimulation, detection of disabilities, health check-ups, referral services, and nutrition and health education for parents. |
| Children Aged 3 to 6 Years | Supplementary nutrition, timely immunization, health check-ups, growth monitoring, referral services, Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), school readiness programmes, pre-school non-formal education, and nutrition and health education for parents. |
| Pregnant Women | Supplementary nutrition, planned pregnancy awareness, immunization, Iron and Folic Acid (IFA) tablets, antenatal care and referral services, awareness on the first 1,000 days of a child’s life, first installment under PMMVY, and nutrition and health education. |
| Lactating Mothers | Supplementary nutrition up to six months, postnatal care and referral services, awareness on exclusive breastfeeding, awareness on the first 1,000 days of a child’s life, second installment under PMMVY, and nutrition and health education. |
| Adolescent Girls | Supplementary nutrition, health check-ups and referral services, growth monitoring, BMI and anaemia assessment, adolescent classes and clubs, prevention of school dropouts, and psycho-social counselling services. |

Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY)
Financial assistance of ₹5,000 for the first childbirth.
Financial assistance of ₹6,000 if the second child is a girl.

A national mission aimed at reducing malnutrition among mothers and children through nutrition-focused interventions and awareness programmes.
