Travellers’ Bungalow (T.B)

The Travellers’ Bungalow (T.B), renovated under the Muziris Heritage Project, was formerly the old Pappinivattom Village Office building. This structure was built during the British colonial period. The bungalow served as a resting place for senior police officers and other government officials during their journeys. It was also reportedly used by the police as an interrogation and detention cell. Many political activists accused during various periods were brought here and subjected to severe and cruel police torture. During the British era, Congress workers, and later Communist activists, had to endure harsh police atrocities at this place. Over time, the building was converted into the Pappinivattom Village Office. Later, the village office was shifted from there to Mathilakam. Today, the building is preserved as a protected heritage monument under the Muziris Heritage Project.
